Transactions per second calculation

Hi
Does JMeter calculate transactions per second or is it something we have to
calculate ourselves ?
If so, how does one go about calculating it ? I have some idea but I just
want some confirmation.

JMeter calculates throughput in some of the Listeners; this is
expressed in samples/sec|min|hour as appropriate.

Divide the number of samples by the elapsed time.
