What's this "Warning from users@openoffice.apache.org"

This isn't the first time I've gotten a msg like this. Why does this
happen?

And the promised "...attached copy of the bounced message..." isn't.

Hi! This is the ezmlm program. I'm managing the
users@openoffice.apache.org mailing list.

I'm working for my owner, who can be reached
at users-owner@openoffice.apache.org.

Messages to you from the users mailing list seem to
have been bouncing. I've attached a copy of the first bounce
message I received.

If this message bounces too, I will send you a probe. If the probe bounces,
I will remove your address from the users mailing list,
without further notice.

I've kept a list of which messages from the users mailing list have
bounced from your address.

Copies of these messages may be in the archive.
To retrieve a set of messages 123-145 (a maximum of 100 per request),
send a short message to:
   <us...@openoffice.apache.org>

To receive a subject and author list for the last 100 or so messages,
send a short message to:
   <us...@openoffice.apache.org>

Here are the message numbers:

Add me to the recipients of these missives, despite having received and
read many, many postings to the list on an ongoing basis. As well, I am
not aware of any problems in receiving mail from others. I too just
ignore now.

Me three on getting these odd missives. Show up about every three weeks,
and despite the text, no "bounced messages" are ever attached.

Very odd.

Good question. I get them too, but not recently. I've asked and have not

Since several other users reported the issue, and since we had a similar
discussion on the l10n list http://markmail.org/message/bg2pvmp6l3nwm7lh
, there are a few checks I would ask to those who are having this issue
(the easy solution, as already mentioned, is that a spam filter is
blocking some messages; but it's not the only one).

The message Maurice forwarded contains a list of missed messages from
the list:

> Here are the message numbers:
> 8297
> 8298
> 8300 [...]

Maurice, can you check if you received them? If you e-mail
users-get.8297_8300@openoffice.apache.org
you will receive back all messages between 8297 and 8300, including the
three listed above. It would be important (if you don't delete messages)
to know whether you actually received the "missed" messages (and thus we
have a false positive) or you didn't.

It is also important to know whether something changed recently, so
please see if something changed for you in or around the following dates:

- First week of April 2014: Yahoo! implements their DMARC policy (that
also affects users who do not use Yahoo! addresses)
- First week of June 2014: Apache implements a mechanism to circumvent
problems caused by Yahoo! (you will see that the sender address is
changed from @yahoo.com to @yahoo.com.INVALID by the list software)

Regards,
   Andrea.

most probably, the messages in question were filtered by your mail provider's antispam engine. the ezmlm program checks if the engine rejects everything or just some portion of mail that it considers suspicious. in the first case, it would strike you out from the mailing list; otherwise, it will take no action.

well, here it is (only the headers, not the whole message):
