rev 675931 has broken ant-contrib which relied on the org.apache.ivy.ant.IvyConfigure.setId method which is now missing. Since that code hasn't really been touched since before Ivy was brought into the ASF, it would seem to have the possibility to break other code. It would be good to fix that and to run clirr to see if any other previously public methods have disappeared.

I've committed a change which undeprecates the ivy:configure task and makes ivy:settings a datatype again.

This has already been discussed on the dev mailing list if I remember correctly. Moreover, the method you're referring has been introduced much more recently than what you think, in beta2 I think. Finally with Ivy 2.0, we do not pretend to be backward compatible at API level. So we accept that we break some code with this change.
