Ubuntu Snaps

Hi everyone,

Linux users can now get Groovy via the Snap Store:

https://snapcraft.io/groovy

Full instructions for many common distros are available from that site. It
will normally involve running:

> snap install groovy --classic

... once you have Snap installed (if you don't already). Or if you have the
Snap Store graphical desktop application, you can simply browse to Apache
Groovy and click Install.

For Linux users, Snaps complement the other ways of getting Groovy. Enjoy!

Cheers, Paul.

@scripting: G-)

@linuxbrew: Thnx for the info. What I meant was that alas neither our
servers nor clients are connected to the internet, so all these nice
services (including Maven repositories *sigh*) do not work...

Same here re scripting...

But just FYI, groovy is available from linuxbrew as well (macOS know what
Homebrew is, this is linux flavor that is now merged into official
Homebrew).
Along with adoptopenjdk and groovy (and rest of tools brew offers), for me,
it is the simplest way to keep up to date with these tools.

Thanks and happy brewing!

I'm always pushing to use Groovy instead of Unix scripting or Python,
Perl, ... fors scripting on our servers, so even if we cannot use such
services in our environment, that is a good development :-)
