NonLoginAuthenticator.java

Has anyone used NonLoginAuthenticator?
aka org.apache.catalina.authenticator.NonLoginAuthenticator .. found at ...

 From a quick code walkthrough it looks like an authenticator for use when 
apache propogated REMOTE_USER for me. So the only job of the realm is to map 
Users to roles? (With no authentication)

So it deviation from the spec might be the ignoring <auth-method> in web.xml 
but otherwise does this sound correct?
