issues with OO templates
tried to download a couple templates. they are zip files which don't
extract properly. there are no executable files so you can use them
never had this issue before

You are probably using Internet Explorer to down;load, which silently renames them to .zip. At system level rename them to .ott and double click them. OO should then install them
