camel-parent is not a BOM but has been abused as one for long time. 

There is a new camel-bom that is minimal and more favorable to be used for future.

In Camel 3.0 we can cleanup camel-parent to not be a BOM and just setup dependency versions and a few other common thing, so it can be an internal pom file - as it should be.
