- If you are travelling from Europe then there are direct, non-stop flights available on Sri Lankan Airlines (http://www.srilankan.aero/) from several European citiies. Alternatively there are many airlines that connect via the middle east, notably Emirates (http://www.emirates.com/). Emirates and Sri Lankan are partners and both are very good airlines.
- If you are travelling from the US east coast, then you need to make one stop at least. That can be in Europe (London Heathrow being the easiest in terms of maximum connections to Colombo) or in the middle east (Dubai, for example). If coming from the US west coast, then the easiest is to fly via Tokyo (NRT) or Hongkong or Bangkok or Singapore. That too should give you a single stop flight path!
- If you're flying from pretty much anywhere else you can fly direct or connect thru Europe or one of the Asian hubs.
