[~bdx], the spark charm installs whatever is available in the Bigtop repo, so there's nothing to do at a charm level for this issue.  ATM, the latest is spark-2.2.1:

I've adjusted this Jira title to reflect a request for Bigtop to bump spark to 2.4, but there may be reasons for staying at 2.2 in the current release (hive integration, etc).
