auto restart tomcat

Because the JVM used by Tomcat can some times crash and the virtual machines are not (yet) started automatic I would like to use a deamon for re-starting the JVM for when it is failed. I was thinking about using inetd but I can't seem to get it right.
Does anybody know the configuration for the inetd.conf and the services file for a java virtual machine ?
Or know of another way to re-start the JVM's ?
Thanks and regards
Xander
