### Describe the enhancement requested
Though this is not actually a bug in our code (and will possibly be fixed upstream in r devel), we no longer need extra long dev versions.
We should reduce the number of 0s we have at https://github.com/apache/arrow/blob/acf7bdc4588fb41ba9a5f81e91056795850c9a8f/dev/archery/archery/crossbow/core.py#L856-L857 and update the comment + the relevant tests we have.
