           Summary: Setting enablePooling to false has no effect
           Product: Tomcat 6
           Version: 6.0.14
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Windows XP
            Status: NEW
          Severity: blocker
          Priority: P2
         Component: Jasper
        AssignedTo: tomcat-dev@jakarta.apache.org
        ReportedBy: fraak72@hotmail.com

Configuring the JspServlet as below has no effect.
Tomcat 6.0.14 still pools the custom tags.

It has been proven that pooling custom tags does NOT yield the performance
expected but introduces bugs.
Please fix this bug, and further disable pooling by default.

<servlet>
        <servlet-name>jsp</servlet-name>
        <servlet-class>org.apache.jasper.servlet.JspServlet</servlet-class>
        <init-param>
            <param-name>fork</param-name>
            <param-value>false</param-value>
        </init-param>
        <init-param>
            <param-name>xpoweredBy</param-name>
            <param-value>false</param-value>
        </init-param>
        <init-param>
            <param-name>enablePooling</param-name>
            <param-value>false</param-value>
        </init-param>
        <load-on-startup>3</load-on-startup>
    </servlet>

------- Additional Comments From markt@apache.org  2008-01-30 14:16 -------
This works for me using the latest version from trunk and there have been no
changes to pooling for a number of versions.

You need to make sure you clean out your work directory after making the change.

Pooling will not be disabled by default.
