2018-07-21 15:25:29 UTC - Poule: or in my case <http://vultr.com|vultr.com> block storage
----
2018-07-21 15:25:36 UTC - Sijie Guo: Yes it is okay. However you might consider disabling fsync in bookies.

2018-07-21 15:27:48 UTC - Sijie Guo: That is the setting
----
2018-07-21 15:32:37 UTC - Poule: It is Recommended to start with 3 brokers/bookies. Is it ok to start with 1 and later add more or I will run into technical problems?
----
2018-07-21 15:58:02 UTC - Matteo Merli: There are no problems running with 1 broker/bookie (other than availability concerns).

The only setting you need to change is the default number of replicas for the data, which should be set to 1 :

```
managedLedgerDefaultEnsembleSize=1
managedLedgerDefaultWriteQuorum=1
managedLedgerDefaultAckQuorum=1
```

Later you can add more machines and enable multiple replicas.
