I didn't manage to reproduce the issue using:
Apache Open Office 3.3.0, OOO330m20(Build:9567) 
on Windows 8.1, Intel i7 4700MQ, Geforce GT 750M

Steps I used:
1. Create master slide using lyt-bluegrey and lyt-greengradlines
2. Add slides using both masters
3. Check if there any black artefacts on the backgrounds

Templates mentioned in report aren't provided by default in Impress 4.1 and are
not listed in OpenOffice template site (http://templates.openoffice.org/), so
version 3.3.0 was required to check the case.
