[jira] Closed: (INFRA-1641) AV should be processed earlier for mailing lists

     [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/INFRA-1641?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:all-tabpanel ]

Tony Stevenson closed INFRA-1641.
---------------------------------

    Resolution: Fixed

It is processed earlier.

Spam/AV is done on the MXs, the MLs are on hermes.

So the mail flow is :

client  ->  smtp host  ->  {nike|athena}  ->   hermes  ->  recipients
                                               Spam/AV               ML

> Just received a moderation message for JMeterUser which was flagged with an illegal attachment.
> [It was Greeting Card SPAM]
> It looks like AV checks are done after mailing list moderation checks.
> It might be better if the AV checks were done beforehand?
> Or perhaps the mailing-list software can be told to silently drop mails with illegal attachments?
