The ViewVC window on Subversion directories has two viewing options for any file: view and annotate, for example on this page:
http://svn.apache.org/viewvc/commons/proper/dbcp/trunk/doc/BasicDataSourceExample.java?view=log
The "annotate" option is fine--it shows line numbers and who made the last change, but the "view" option should *not* have line numbers because it makes it very difficult to copy and paste code from the site. (Copies end up copying also the line numbers, which requires manual removal once you paste the code into your IDE.)
Example of view option where it would be good for line numbers to be removed:

I suspect ViewVC has some template option that would allow for removing the line numbers.
