   I found this comment on wtform repository https://github.com/wtforms/wtforms/pull/202#issuecomment-118543433 .
   the ext module is not supported on wtforms 3.x. Pinning the installed version of wtforms to < 3.x works.
   In my case I pinned the version of wtforms to `2.3.3`
