Newbie question
Am I correct in thinking that I should copy the .cf files from
/usr/share/spamassassin/ to /etc/mail/spamassassin/ or is it better to copy
the code from the files in /usr/share/spamassassin/ to
/usr/share/spamassassin/local.cf
Thanks.

/etc/mail/spamassassin/ is your permanent systemwide config directory.
/usr/share/spamassassin/ only holds those config files, which came with
the current version of spamassassin you have installed on your system.
when adding new rules, place them into: /etc/mail/spamassassin/
and leave all files in /usr/share/spamassassin/ untouched.
local.cf should stay in /etc/mail/spamassassin/.
