[VOTE] Release Apache Traffic Server v3.1.2
Hi all,
I've prepared a package for a v3.1.2 release. Please take a look at the
artifacts, check the STATUS/README/CHANGES files, and do builds and tests.
After finishing your examination of the release candidate, please cast your
±/0 votes in a timely manner, I will call the vote on Feb 8, 2012. The
source tar-ball and signatures are available in
http://people.apache.org/~zwoop/rel-candidates/

This includes 50 bug fixes and new features. In particularly, we have new
flexible configuration system for specifying IP:ports to bind (and how). Old
configurations are backwards compatible, but we encourage you to migrate to
the new configuration if possible.

Out of curiosity, there are a couple of bugs with suggested fixes for the
gzip plugin. Assuming those have not been applied to trunk, did you try them
in your setup ?

The gunzip file in the latest stable release doesn't seem to have a fix for this as well.
I am using a Fedora 12 64-bit machine for traffic server.
Is there any working version available for gunzip.c? Since I am a newbie to using the traffic server, any help regarding this issue would be deeply appreciated.
Thanks,

Carlton,
I am not sure I understand. Have you made changes to the plugin in the latest release and want me to try it? Or were you going to attach a modified version of gunzip with your email?

Hi all
I am trying to use gunzip plugin with the traffic server (v3.0.2) which loads fine, but gives the following error when web requests come in:
FATAL: InkAPI.cc:3195: failed assert 'idx >= 0'
Is this a known issue? I compared the gunzip.c file with the one in 3.1.1 release and find no major difference. I had faced the same problem with gzip.c, but a modified working plugin was available in this post:
http://www.mail-archive.com/dev@trafficserver.apache.org/msg03038.html
I am not able to find a similar patch for the gunzip file. Any pointers?

Thanks everyone for voting. Even with a few concerns (Solaris build problem,
which we have fixed on trunk and can be applied to 3.1.2 if needed, and
Nick's OSX problem which I can't reproduce), I think we should release this.
There were no -1 votes as far as I can tell.
So, as soon as Infra fixes some SVN script snafu, I will push this to dist.

Wonder if we shoud file a bug on this? Doesn't seem right that it's not
working with a "release" build.

Should we just move along with the 3.1.2 release then ? I filed a bug for
the solaris compile problem, so we can refer to that for those running into
it. And hopefully, 3.1.3 is not that far out ?
I'm not sure about the OSX problems, I've tested it here, and can not
reproduce it with my "normal" OSX build (on Lion/64-bit).

Hrm... that *should* work out of the box.
But it's something we can fix in 3.1.3 -- it's called -unstable
for a reason ;)

huh? i686 only? Not multi Arch? Or at least x86_64?

Checksums check out. Signature verifies, of both tarball and
the now finally created tag.
Build on Fedora 16 x86_64 passes regressions.
As the RM of the 3.0.x branch, I haven't put it in production yet ;)
None the less, a +1 from me!

Cool thanks Igor!
Btw, Solaris Studio 12.3's NOTE (not sure if earlier versions,
haven't checked yet) can do the same for us as GCC's PRINTFLIKE:
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E24457_01/html/E21990/bjaih.html
