problem running Forrest live webapp with Jetty

Hello,

I tried to run the Forrest live webapp (jetty) under Win XP and JDK1.4.
After starting forrester run on the default sample
I'm getting the following exception. Apparently Cocoon is not able to
render html from the
Xml - files. Probably there is something wrong with my setup. Any ideas?

Just in case somebody is experiencing a similar problem: I finally got
it running using Tomcat 5.0.24 instead of Jetty.

AW: problem running Forrest live webapp with Jetty

Posted by Peter Friesleben <fr...@web.de>.
Well, I'm using Apache Forrest 0.5.1 on a Win XP Home Edition 2002. I
just
noticed that it is still only servicepack 1 installed, but I guess that
is not the problem. Java version is J2SE 1.4.2_04 SDK.

Command-line mode works good form me. I could build the sample, and then
went over to set up my own project-homepage and everything went fine.
Only now that I'm trying to speed things up a little bit working in
webapp-mode I'm experiencing this problem. For testing I rebuild the
sample in a different directory using
	forrest seed
	forrest
	forrest run

Still getting the same exception :-(

This is the output from forrest run:

	D:\dev\forresttest>forrest run

Apache Forrest. Run 'forrest -projecthelp' to list options

	Buildfile: D:\dev\apache-forrest-0.5.1-bin\forrest.build.xml

	            reloadable='true'/>

If using JDK 1.4 or above, make sure to set the Java environment
variable

-Djava.endorsed.dirs=D:\dev\apache-forrest-0.5.1-bin\lib\endorsed

Then when I'm pointing the browser to http://localhost:8888 I'm getting
the exception:

Jetty is obviously expecting an index.html - file in
<forresttest>\build\webapp\content but it isn't rendered cause cocoon
can't read the index.xml .

Any more suggestions?

Thx in advance

Please say which version of Forrest you are using.
Is it the current version from the SVN repository?
Is it the old 0.5.1 released version?

Also does the command-line mode work for you, i.e.

mkdir /home/me/my-raw-test; cd /home/me/my-raw-test
forrest seed
forrest
