Sean Finan commented on CTAKES-474:
-----------------------------------

ctakes does not have the capability to report parent concepts.

By "how can I access", do you mean using code or using some output file?

By code, you can use JCasUtil.select(..) and a class name.

DiseaseDisorderMention, ProcedureMention, SignSymptomMention, MedicationEventMention, AnatomicalSiteMention.

> Hi, I am using cTakes to analysis some clinical text. I have cTakes running using the temporal demo and building upon it. I am looking for a way to get the snowmedct concept associated with each umlsconcept that cTakes returns. Example, if cTakes returns preferred text="feelings" with codingScheme="SNOMEDCT_US" and code="285854004" how can I get the parents of the snowmedct concept represented by the code. Also, how can I access individual event types highlighted in green in the attached image. Thanks.
