[VOTE] Release Commons Digester 2.0

This is a vote to release the following artifacts as Commons Digester 2.0:

  http://people.apache.org/builds/commons/digester/2.0/RC1/

This is a major release, with breaking changes. See release notes for
corresponding details.

SVN tag is here:

  http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/commons/proper/digester/tags/DIGESTER_2_0/

------------
[ ] +1 for release
[ ] +0
[ ] -0
[ ] -1 for release because...
------------

Notes:
 * There are a number of (mostly unavoidable) traces when running the tests
 * The staged site contains few broken links (won't be broken when we go live)
 * I've looked at most static analysis reports, anything pending is
not important IMO
 * I'm traveling rest of the week so my replies won't be immediate
 * Vote will run for atleast 72 hours, maybe more given the timing

TIA,
-Rahul

Thanks for taking a look. It doesn't matter where the link in the
"Release 2.0 (Current)" section points to, the Javadoc gets copied
over to match. Note the commons-digester-2.0 segment in the relative
path -- this will be done as part of the site updates after the
release.

<snap/>

I think its OK. Its a bit tricky to count votes predicated like that,
it would be better if you can confirm either way based on my response
here. I intend to close this vote on Monday.

Yes, its not good. However, there are patterns in use that make it
more difficult to avoid the traces.

Are you sure here? The Javadoc link in the "Release 2.0 (Current )" section
points to broken link "docs/api". However, the link for the Javadocs in the
Maven Reports section points to "apidocs" (Maven 2 default) and works. So
either one or the other will be broken ...

+1 if the link above is not broken in the final release. Apart from that my
compiler zoo worked fine with the source distribution (although IMHO it is
always somewhat irritating to have such a lot stack traces printed if the
result counts zero errors).

Thanks for clarifying. The gpg plugin has generally worked well for me
and I've verified the sigs on the source and binary distros (both
tar.gz and zip) so I think we're OK.

Sorry, I have been digging out of a backlog here and what I validated
was the 2.0 version initially.

I have now reviewed the 1.8.1 candidate here
http://people.apache.org/builds/commons/digester/1.8.1/RC1/ and am +1 to
release this if it is not too late.

Note: I did not verify the sigs on all the files in this candidate, so
pls make sure someone else has before actually releasing to the mirrors.

Thanks for taking a look. Did you intend to vote on the 1.8.1 thread
instead? The 2.0 vote (this thread) has closed, while the 1.8.1 one is
still active (for another few hours).

I only found a mistake in the release notes: the sentence
"[DIGESTER-111] Null arguments to all Digester#parse() methods now an
IllegalArgumentException." is missing the verb.

Cool. Maybe this gives a push towards moving Commons components to Java 1.5.

Great news.

Will 1.8.1 be released soon too?

[RESULT][VOTE] Release Commons Digester 2.0

Posted by Rahul Akolkar <ra...@gmail.com>.
Sorry about the duplicate here, I missed the [RESULT] subject marker
the first time:

This vote passes with atleast 3 +1s votes from:

Luc Maisonobe
Paul Benedict (*)
Oliver Heger
Rahul Akolkar

Additionally, Jörg Schaible seemed to be in favor, but I didn't get a
confirmation (the broken Javadoc link on staging site is not a blocker
IMO).

Thanks for all input and I'll complete the related tasks in a couple of days.
