"make test" fails: missing mod_apreq.so and problems in t/apreq/cgi
I'm trying to build my just checked out copy of httpd-apreq-2. using Perl
5.8.6, Apache 2.0.52, mod_perl-2.0.0-RC4, libtool 1.4.2, autoconf 2.59, on
Red Hat Linux 7.3. Maybe my libtool or autoconf is out of date? But buildconf
didn't say so....

Here's what I did:
I think that broken link for mod_apreq.la should point to ../../mod_apreq.la
instead? I fixed that.
Then, I made a sym link from mod_apreq to mod_apreq.so in env/t/.libs/.
Ditto for env/.libs. After making those, "make test" mostly succeeded.

Anyone? I presume there are others here who can successfuly "make test" with
apreq2 trunk on Linux? If so, as a reference point, could you *please* tell
which version of libtool, autoconf, and automake you are using that you know
works? Thanks. I'm willing to upgrade my libtool and/or autoconf and/or
automake installations to see if I can isolate the cause of the "make test"
failures...

FWIW, even though "make test" failed the t/apreq/cgi tests, once installed,
it seems to work with Mason. :-)

In an attempt to find the minimum required version, I upgraded libtool from
1.4.2 to 1.4.3 (instead of the latest version) and "make test" works fine
with libtool 1.4.3. Technically, you can "make install" with libtool 1.4.2,
but you can't "make test". I'm not sure if that's grounds for officially
making libtool 1.4.3 the minimum required version for buildconf or not? I
would say yes. Here's a trivial patch:

Yeah, it got installed just fine.

Yup! I went into env/t/.libs and made a sym link from mod_apreq to
mod_apreq.so. "make test" worked fine then.

Looks to me like a libtool issue on your box; for
some reason the usual "mod_apreq.so" is being
created as "mod_apreq" (does it wind up getting
installed as mod_apreq.so?). I'm sure the cgi
tests are failing for the same reason.
IIRC the prereqs we list for the auto|libtool stuff
are the minimum versions I've tested debian against
at some point. If you can find newer versions for
RedHat 7.3 that actually work for you, let us know
and we should be able to bump the prereqs accordingly.
