That's the operating system question really. Whatever invokes your
Solr instance (system script, command line, etc) should have its path
and/or JAVA_HOME pointing to Java 8.

I _think_ there was a JIRA about lsof recently which seems to be an issue.
What O/S are you on?

I don't think this affects startup itself, just monitoring.

Hi Shawn,
I follwed following steps:
Stopped the existing SOLR 5.1.0 by bin/solr stop -p 8983
I have copied solr-6.4.0.tgz file to the root directory -/opt/wml.

Then I have extracted (installed) by
tarzxf solr-6.4.0.tgz

Let me know what's wrong.

Thanks.

Uchit Patel

If you *installed* Solr using the service installer script, then that is
not the correct file to update.  The service installer has been putting
the include script in /etc/default for some time.  Back in earlier 5.5
versions, the file would end up in the solr home, which has a default
location of /var/solr.

Thanks,
Shawn

Hi,

SOLR_JAVA_HOME must point to the directory of the JDK, not the "java" command:

SOLR_JAVA_HOME = "/opt/wml/jdk1.8.0_66"
