[general][doc] snapshot download page
we now have two pages where people can download snapshots.
the first page is where latest snapshots are available:
http://harmony.apache.org/downloads.html
The second one where there is a short history of snapshots and their testing
results, people have a choice of what to download and my choose not very
latest snapshot.
http://harmony.apache.org/snapshots_v5.html
I think it's better not to offer just latest snapshot without any alternative,
since people who tried a broken build may make wrong conclusions about
the project state.
So I suggest that we remove 5.0 snapshots from downloads.html
and put a link there to snapshots_v5.html. We may also take
what we now have on downloads.html and put it in the same format to
snapshots_v5.html.
Opinions?
Thanks,
Mikhail

Mikhail,
Thanks for clarification. Then we keep both pages, and I index the
snapshots page on the sitemap under For Developers, whereas Downloads is
For Users.
I'd also recommend adding a link from Downloads to Snapshots and vice
versa - after all, the content is related.
Cheers,
Nadya

Re: [general][doc] snapshot download page

Nadya,
some time ago we agreed to have two places for snapshot downloading.
The first one is for users who come to download "a snapshot".
The second one is for Harmony developers, where several recent snapshots
are available with their testing results. This is for tracking
regressions, choosing
a build for release, etc.
The latest snapshot from the second place might be broken in this case
some previous snapshot will be offered for users in the first place.
The first place currently is download page, the second one is snapshot page.
So, my understanding is download page should remain the same.
Thanks,
Mikhail

many terms are overloaded :)
I guess you meant not those "stable builds" that are milestones but
those snapshots that are a bit more stable than snapshot of an arbitrary state
That's right, the table is a bit complicated. We may point what we have as a
"latest" snapshot to something more stable than others, so that people
who need just "a snapshot" won't have to study the table.

I guess it is a matter of taste, but while the table is ok for snapshot
builds where people can search for a given build in a long list, I think
it is too cluttered for presenting our latest stable builds.

We can perhaps just leave them white? Can be simpler and won't raise
questions as to "any specific meaning for the green"?

The intent is to have slightly different background colors
for odd and even lines in the table

Hi Mikhail,
Can we now remove info from the Downloads page, section Snapshot Builds
for Harmony 5.0, and point to your new Snapshots v5 page? What about
sections Stable Builds and 6.0 on the Downloads page - what do we do
with these?
Cheers,

Mikhail,
The new history snapshot page looks great. Only one question: why does
one of the snapshots look green? If it has some specific meaning ,we can
explain that on the page. If it does not, we could just use white
background to set off the blue one - though other tables on the site all
use the same blue and don't seem to mind.
As for
