If RAT complains after you just pulled from master..
The old Hadoop 1.x compatibility/emulation layer that has been
deprecated for a long while now got removed just now from the working
tree in Hyracks master. If you pull that change and then try to build,
and mvn fails with RAT complaining like this:
---
Unapproved licenses:
.../hyracks/hyracks/hyracks-hadoop-compat/.classpath
.../hyracks/hyracks/hyracks-hadoop-compat/.project
.../hyracks/hyracks/hyracks-hadoop-compat/.settings/org.eclipse.core.resources.prefs
---
Then all you need to do is just remove the 'hyracks-hadoop-compat'
folder under hyracks and hyracks-examples/ . Git generally is lazy and
doesn't delete things from the index as long as they're active in some
revision.
Thanks,
-Ian

Or you can use “git clean -fd” to clean up your working tree.

Here it is: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/RAT-208 :)

RAT Core does support such a feature, but the Maven plugin doesn't.
Create an issue report, and I'll take care for it.

On one hand that’s true, on the other hand it leaves a footprint of a
non-existing project in the code base (assuming that the RAT
configuration is part of the code base).
Talking about RAT: Do you know if we could move the excludes from the
POM into an excludes file that can be used by the maven build and when
running RAT on the command line?

How about configuring RAT to ignore .../hyracks/hyracks-hadoop-compat?
Solves that problem once, and for everyone.
