Spamassassin Upgrade

I just upgraded my SA to 3.2.5 and now when I look in my /etc/init.d I do not
see spamassassin listed anywhere in there. How can I go about stopping and
starting SA?

The most important fact, left out from the OP. :)

A common, related issue is, that distros tend to package spamassassin
and spamd separately. Upgrading spamassassin only might then result in
spamd being un-installed, rater than updated, too.

Which OS? How did you upgrade – cpan? yum? apt-get? From where did you
get 3.2.5?

Thanks,

James.

I'd say it's caused by installing from CPAN. I advise you upgrade debian to
5.0 lenny (and turn on using volatile archive) which already contains
SA3.2.5.

/usr/local/etc/rc.d/ is where the stop/start scripts have always been
on my system.

What's wrong with the Debian package?

Hmm, never installed from CPAN myself, however...

Restarting the server works? SpamAssassin (or rather spamd) is running
after that? And there is no init script...?

What does 'ps axw | grep spam' return?

I have Debian Sarge 4.0. I installed spamassassin 3.2.5 from CPAN. It
installed fine
and is working fine I just not sure now how to stop and restart it since it
is not
listed in /etc/init.d like it used to be. I made some changes to my
whitelist and
wanted to apply them but short of restarting the server I cant find how to
stop and
restart spamassassin
