Summer of Code task suggestion

Hi,

Could I suggest a possible extra choice of task for the Summer of Code
students be to address the issue of preserving modification timestamps
(http://subversion.tigris.org/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=1256)?

This issue has had a lot of discussion (recently summarised on the users
mailing list by Robin Cover
(http://svn.haxx.se/users/archive-2008-03/0462.shtml))

It has had at lease 3 design discussions, with the high level design
suitable thrashed out.

There have also been some patches by Phil Marek.

Thanks,

Graeme

I think this is too big to be a Summer of Code task, unfortunately.
Asking a student to come in and (in one summer) understand Subversion's
code, grok previous design discussions, grok existing patches, lead us
to a consensus, and implement it... Well, just seems unrealistic for
this task, although for less complex tasks it is of course exactly what
we expect (and usually get) in Summer of Code.

I'm going through our issue tracker right now to look for some more
Summer of Code ideas. Anyone who has an idea, please post it here.

-Karl
