beginnger question: JMeter hangs when I try to test it
I'm trying to drive jmeter-2.0.1 for the first time. I've tried to set up a
very simple setup:
- a Thread group with 1 thread, a ramp-up of 0 and a loop count of 1
In this:
- an HTTP Request Defaults item speficying my target host
- a simple HTTP Request that does a POST with three fields
(though the problem persists with a plain old GET with no params)
- a couple of Listeners, one a View Results in Table
If I hit run, the "run" light goes nicely green but no qurests seem to issue.
The jmeter.log says:
2004/10/10 15:00:04 INFO - jmeter.JMeter: Version 2.0.1
2004/10/10 15:00:04 INFO - jmeter.JMeter: java.version=1.4.2
2004/10/10 15:00:13 INFO - jmeter.gui.action.Load: Loading file: /home/cameron/jmeter/bos-csa-1.jmx
2004/10/10 15:04:04 INFO - jmeter.engine.StandardJMeterEngine: Running the test!
2004/10/10 15:04:04 INFO - jmeter.engine.StandardJMeterEngine: About to call test listeners
2004/10/10 15:04:04 INFO - jmeter.engine.StandardJMeterEngine: Notifying test listener: org.apache.jmeter.gui.MainFrame
2004/10/10 15:04:04 INFO - jmeter.gui.util.JMeterMenuBar: setRunning(true,local)
Nothing shows in the results view, and the run never ends.
Annoyingly, I had this (or an earlier version) working transiently, but
haven't figured out at all what's wrong. DNS seems ok, too.

That's a bug, thanks for pointing it out ...

Thanks, I'll hold that in reserve.
I've just discovered that stuff in the WorkBench isn't run. Doh! I
think the most misleading thing was that an empty Test Plan seems to
run forever, doing nothing, and so led me to think the stuff in the
workbench was supposed to be running. Should JMeter go into "run" mode
and never come out with an empty Test Plan?
Cheers,

Try enabling DEBUG logging - see jmeter.properties for details.
Or you can do it on the command line with the parameter:
-Ljmeter=DEBUG
and perhaps
-Ljorphan=DEBUG
but that probably produces too much output
