I use a separate address for lists and filter everything I want to see
into an appropriate imap folder. Anything that doesn't hit one of these
filters ends-up in a default folder, which I don't need to check.

I've been doing this since a few days after subscribing to my first
list. It never ceases to amaze me that people subscribe with their
general-purpose addresses.

you don't get it?

it is not about CC of list mails, it's about that he started to setup
some tool which *bounces back* every mail with a from-header of me
*directly* to me, even list-repsonses to other people and to top it even
a mysql-list message from 2015 he did read once again

and *than* this guy comes up with the complaint above after i wrote him
dozens of times he should stop this bullshit where he even saw the need
to forward that complaints to my boss?

this guy is just mentally ill and don't get cause and effect

I also don't like people who Cc me and a list that I'm on. Reindl
is just a little... strident about it, is all.

Nevertheless, there is a technical solution to the Reindl problem, which
I have deployed with great success:

http://search.cpan.org/~rjbs/Email-Filter-1.034/lib/Email/Filter.pm
http://search.cpan.org/~dskoll/Mail-ThreadKiller-1.0.1/lib/Mail/ThreadKiller.pm

The combo of those sends any message from a problematic poster to
/dev/null, as well as all followups... in fact, the entire message tree
that results from the original posting.

What you don't see can't raise your blood pressure.

Regards,

Dianne.

THE RULE BELOW IS ABOUT ENVELOPE SENDERS and regulary list-email *do
not* have your address as envelope sender - what you are showing below
is rejcted *offlist* mail

the only thing which is bounced back are YOUR OFFLIST MAILS because
*you* auto-bounce back *any mail* of me for days now even if it is a
ordianry list mail not targeted to you in any context

and if you would know hat you are talking about you would know the
differene from-header / enevlope sender

he don't CC me - he just created some crap which *resent* every single
mail with a from-header of mine - frankly even a mail from 2015 on a
different list - that said to the topic "childish games"

"everytime I send a reply to the list they are not immediately bounced
back to me by his server?" is just laughable (especially for someone who
is running a mailserver)

followed by quoting "This is the mail system at host
services.d3photography.com" in the said bounce which is (cwis.biz. 3600
IN MX 10 services.d3photography.com.) *his own* server as reaction of
*directly* try to deliver *junk* to mine and so it's pretty obvious who
should be removed from the list

*he should have been removed* from the list within the last 3 days for
*starting* writing offlist-mails, can't stand the repsonse and adding
Markowitz Sidney (a list-moderator) *twice* into that off-list
conversation, even after i removed him one time from this stupid game he
has not deserved to receive

what *really* should be adressed is people discussion forward and
backward completly off-topic stuff based on assumptions instead read the
damned first response making things clear seconds after the original post

* a fool did setup a auto-forward of read mail by from-header
* that fool got a reject on the destination server
* that fool came up with a complaint to the list
* that fool is clueless about how email works and all
the sample rejects he brought where *off-list* mails
* that fool itself should have been removed from this list
at the day he started a off-list mailing, did not stand
the response and added a list-admin as CC while it was
still off-list - doing so that whole thread would never
have existed nor would i have needed to set the reject

Then don't "click reply" but use a proper mail user agent (like mutt,
but there are many others) that have a separate List Reply/Followup
function.

What "should be addressed" is the misconfigured mailing lists that mess
with sender-supplied headers.

besides that it's not the case because he spammed my by intention this
mailing-list as most others has a header "List-Post:
<ma...@spamassassin.apache.org>" and a sane client like
thunderbird offers a reply-list button in case it exists

a sane mail client could even change the behavior of the normal reply
button - no it is not a problem of the list and in this special case
it's by intention by the thread starter which the next time should learn
to read bounces and mail basics before starting such abusive threads

Claws Mail also. It seems to respect the List-Post: header.

It'll be a cold day in Hell before MSFT acknowledges that header, I
suppose.

The biggest reason is the way this mailing list is set up, when you click
reply it replies to the poster not the list, this has always been a bug bare
of mine and something that probably should be addressed.

yes that solves indeed all the good things he sometimes posting, we can
not win always imho, but what works for me is create a autoreader in
sieve to help me read his mails so i dont need to reply to him :=)

he is right why do you cc him, keep the fun on maillist is more fun :=)
