*5. Mandating Open Document Format (ODF) *
Attempts to implement open source office software have had issue with
incompatibility where partners are using their
proprietary counterparts. The Microsoft Office suite has the inbuilt
capability to read and edit documents saved in the open
document format, but rarely do people save in this
format. Mandating the open document format, as has recently been the
case in the Netherlands, will be the foundation for effective use of open
source office software.
