[jira] [Created] (SENTRY-1224) Add kerberos authentication to REST end point

Sravya Tirukkovalur created SENTRY-1224:
-------------------------------------------

Summary: Add kerberos authentication to REST end point
                 Key: SENTRY-1224
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SENTRY-1224
             Project: Sentry
          Issue Type: New Feature
          Components: http
    Affects Versions: 1.8.0
            Reporter: Sravya Tirukkovalur
            Assignee: Sravya Tirukkovalur

SENTRY-1081 is tracking adding a rest api to Sentry. Along with it, we should also add strong authentication support to the REST end point.

I took a brief look at other Hadoop components and seems like using the Hadoop Auth filter would be the best approach, as it is standardized and used in other downstream components. Hadoop Auth is a Java library consisting of a client and a server components to enable Kerberos SPNEGO authentication for HTTP. https://hadoop.apache.org/docs/stable/hadoop-auth/index.html See OOZIE-77 for details.
