Mod_Webapp not working with Apache 1.3.26 ??

Anyone get this error when trying to upgrade (overwrite existing
setup)? Do I need to recompile mod_webapp for this install? 

# /usr/local/apache/bin/apachectl configtest
Syntax error on line 259 of /usr/local/apache/conf/httpd.conf:
API module structure `webapp_module' in file
/usr/local/apache/libexec/mod_webapp.so is garbled - perhaps this is
not an Apache module DSO?
