[jira] [Created] (XALANC-810) vcpkg install xalan-c : where is the executable?

Marco Antoniotti created XALANC-810:
---------------------------------------

             Summary: vcpkg install xalan-c : where is the executable?
                 Key: XALANC-810
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/XALANC-810
             Project: XalanC
          Issue Type: Wish
          Components: XalanC
            Reporter: Marco Antoniotti
            Assignee: Gary D. Gregory

Hi

I just installed a fresh version of vcpkg on W10.

Then I tried to install Xalan-c.  The command I issued is

{{C:\where\vcpkg\is> .\vcpkg install xalan-c}}

This installs xerces and xalan-c libraries but leaves the {{Xalan.exe}} in the {{src}} subfolder of the vcpkg build structure.

I would have expected some way to install the executable in some appropriate place, either default or of my choice.  Alas, I did not find anything in the vcpkg documentation that would help me in this regard.

What I found is that, in theory, you should be able to do

{{C:\where\vcpkg\is> .\vcpkg install xalan-c[tool]}}

i.e., using a "feature" that would allow you to tell vcpkg to "install" the executable in a more sensible place.

Please not that the while point for me was not to have to deal with Cmake and the build process.

I understand that this may be mostly a vcpkg issue, but maybe it is not, and it is something that has to do with the way xalan-c is "packaged" for vcpkg.

Any idea/help?

Thanks

Marco
