WARN. Unread -1 bytes of record 7d

Hi ,
 I get the following warning message while reading an excel file .

WARN. Unread -1 bytes of record 7d

There is no exception as such , but the above warning is obtained and after
that no data is read from the excel.

 But if I do a Save As of the excel in a different name  , then I am able to
read the excel successfully.

 How do I read the excel as such without making a copy and without the above
warning message ?
