Yep, the original patch has been posted for review September 13th:

There was very limited feedback in the first week, but then [~adar] suggested to incorporate the utility into the umbrella 'kudu' tool: that's when I created this ticket.
Right now, I think, the patch is in better shape and should be committed soon.
