Deploying a Cocoon 2.2 application: missing dependency
Hi,
I'm trying to use Cocoon 2.2
I've followed this tutorial:
http://cocoon.apache.org/2.2/1362_1_1.html
When I try to package my block as a webapp with
mvn package jetty:run
then I get the following error:
1) com.mycompany:myblock1:jar:1.0-SNAPSHOT
Try downloading the file manually from the project website.
Then, install it using the command:
mvn install:install-file -DgroupId=com.mycompany -DartifactId=myblock1
-Dversion=1.0-S
NAPSHOT -Dpackaging=jar -Dfile=/path/to/file
Alternatively, if you host your own repository you can deploy the file
there:
mvn deploy:deploy-file -DgroupId=com.mycompany -DartifactId=myblock1
-Dversion=1.0-SNA
PSHOT -Dpackaging=jar -Dfile=/path/to/file -Durl=[url] -DrepositoryId=[id]
Path to dependency:
1) com.mycompany:myCocoonWebapp:war:1.0-SNAPSHOT
2) com.mycompany:myblock1:jar:1.0-SNAPSHOT
As I'm a newbie to Maven, it's hard for me to solve this.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
David

Thanks Reinhard,
I've discovered this works, but when I follow these steps:
- update 'myBlock1' (change sitemap.xmap),
- run again 'mvn install'
- cd ../myCocoonWebapp
- mvn package jetty:run
my changes aren't visible.
On the other hand, if I do
- cd getting-started-app
- mvn -e install
I get this error:
[INFO] Internal error in the plugin manager executing goal

Go to the base directory of "myBlock1" and run "mvn install" from there. This
will put the block into your local repository and is then available when you
build the "myCocoonWebapp" module.

Thanks Grzegorz for your answer,
But if I change my block and try to redeploy (repackage) it, the changes
aren't seen.

You seem to be searching for RAD with Cocoon 2.2. If so, see this page:
http://cocoon.apache.org/2.2/maven-plugins/maven-plugin/1.0/1297_1_1.html
Basically you don't need to install your block and package a webapp all the time. Even more, you
don't even need to restart jetty. Just go to myBlock1 and type:
mvn cocoon:rcl
and start editing files of your block. All changes will get picked up immediately.

Dear Cocooners,
I've done:
cd myblock1
mvn install
cd ../myCocoonWebapp
mvn package jetty:run
and now it works!
Can this be done automatically by Maven?
