[jira] [Created] (TRAFODION-638) LP Bug: 1370745 - Unable to connect to Trafodion as DB__ROOT

Alice Chen created TRAFODION-638:
------------------------------------

Summary: LP Bug: 1370745 - Unable to connect to Trafodion as DB__ROOT
                 Key: TRAFODION-638
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/TRAFODION-638
             Project: Apache Trafodion
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: sql-security
            Reporter: Roberta Marton
            Assignee: Cliff Gray

When Trafodion is installed, a special user called DB__ROOT is registered in the Trafodion metadata. When security is enabled, all registered users need to be associated with an external user. In this case, the external user has to be found in the configured OpenLDAP server.

At installation time, we have not yet enabled security so we really have no way to assign a valid external name.
This works fine if the person registered as DB__ROOT does not ever connect to Trafodion through the application.

If DB__ROOT access is required through the connectivity products, then the external name associated with DB__ROOT needs to be updated to reference a valid OpenLDAP user. Today, there is no way to do this.
