We've switched from Maven 2.0.7 to Maven 2.0.9 and started observing strange warnings happening in different contexts in our builds:
Example:

Have run across this too. This seem to only show up with snapshots of plugin artifacts that use a date suffix.

This was originally added in r280903 (http://svn.apache.org/viewvc?view=rev&revision=280903), so something else must have changed to trigger the call to this that hadn't been before. It might help to log a stack trace in debug mode when it occurs to track it.

I am also seeing this while doing a 'mvn install' and it's breaking things for me. The only thing my pom does is use maven-assembly-plugin to create a custom distribution of my project modules.
However, when maven-assembly-plugin runs to actually assemble things, it grabs the unique timestamped file, breaking the classpath in my MANIFEST.
Here's a snippet of the output from 'mvn -X install'. Notice that I have 2 snapshot dependencies. The first resolves just fine. The second one is the goofy one.
