Linux, Apache, Tomcat, Mysql, Ultradev

Grettings Tomcat Users,

I am new to Tomcat and Java, and I have successfully (I believe)
built/installed Apache with mod_jserv, Tomcat, and MySql using MM.MySQL
classes. The MySQL drivers load and I can connect to databases.

I am now attempting to use Ultradev as a development tool on top of this
combination. This shall be my first attempt at jsp web pages instead of
html and perl cgi.

I am trying to do a simple select that returns the following. Does anyone
have any idea what this means and what I might be doing wrong??

Thanks to all who help out with this question with your insight. That is
exactly the problem. Although a recordset query was specified from UltraDev
it is generating a callable (stored procedure).

Hmmm, just found this over on the macromedia UltraDev newsgoup
and thought it might be of interest to anyone else getting ready to
spend time on getting apache/tomcat/jdbc to work with UltraDev as UltraDev
uses .prepareCall instead of .prepareStatement... I haven't had an answer from
them yet, but hope to clarify and if necessary return UltraDev if this is how they
expect me to use it.

Hi,

I'm doing nearly the same, but using MSSQL with the
FreeTDS driver installed... Ultradev produces:

PreparedStatement StatementRecordset1 = ConnRecordset1.prepareCall("SELECT IR, Details
FROM dbo.incident_reports WHERE IR = "+Recordset1__MMColParam + "");

in my test.jsp....

and I get a 500 internal servlet error

Root cause:

        at org.apache.tomcat.service.TcpConnectionThread.run(SimpleTcpEndpoint.java:338)
        at java.lang.Thread.run(Thread.java:475)

which is a different error message than below... but I'm still not sure about why it
thinks this is a stored procedure... Ultradev produces the code and I have only started
working out how the code works... but this is over my head... if anyone could tell
me why it is trying to find an sp, rather than just execute the sql statement, I can
probably work out why Ultradev isn't putting the right code in.... was hoping that
I could do less coding by going this route as I'm only a hack type programmer.

Thanks

Bill

prepareCall() is used to prepare a call to a stored procedure. It appears that
MySQL doesn't support callable stored procedures. If you're trying to execute a
simple SELECT, you probably want to use prepareStatement() rather than prepareCall().
