Using OpenOffice.org 3.3.0 and OOo-dev 3.4.0 in Windows 7

To remove a Horizontal Rule:

1. Place the cursor above the horizontal rule.
2. Select Paragraph from the Format menu.
3. Select the Borders tab in the Paragraph dialog box.
4. In the "Line arrangement" frame at the left of the dialog, note how the
"User defined" box demonstrates the appearance and location of the paragraph
border. Select the left most box under the word "Default". Note how the
border in the "User defined" box is removed.
5. Select OK.

The horizontal rule should be removed.
