Checksum mismatch on my client vs svn.collab.net
I've not updated my Subversion tree for a while, and today I got a
checksum mismatch on a text-base file. My plan is to just delete the
offending directory and re-check out, but I wanted to log it here just
in case it was a sign the Subversion repo was hosed:
U subversion\clients\cmdline\ls-cmd.c
U subversion\clients\cmdline\blame-cmd.c
U subversion\clients\cmdline\propget-cmd.c
U subversion\clients\cmdline\prompt.c

- handles 'http' schema

* ra_local : Module for accessing a repository on local disk.
- handles 'file' schema
* ra_svn : Module for accessing a repository using the svn network protocol.

Any suggestions before I nuke clients/cmdline and do another update?
(This isn't urgent, I just wanted to look at the javahl bindings).
Cheers,
Mike.

I looked -- whoa, that's some crud, and I have no explanation. Might
be Subversion, might be cosmic rays... :-(

The checksum indicates that you had r7959. The corrupted file is the
same size as the r7959 original but part of it has been overwritten.
The corrupt data contains some readable strings, namely:
MinWanEndpoints
InfPath
EnableForOutboundRouting
MaxWanEndpoints
WanEndpoints
Characteristics
ComponentIdj
InfSection
ProviderName
DriverVersion1
DriverDateData
DriverDate
DriverDesc
MatchingDeviceId
EnableForRask
Google tells me that those are likely to be related to Windows
registry settings.

Ah, sorry! The text-base file that Subversion didn't like seems to have
a bunch of binary crud at the bottom of it, along with other differences
that are probably legit -- I had an old version. I've attached a gzip of
the text-base-with-binary-crud, in case it's useful to anyone. I think
I'll be putting this down to solar flares and Windows...

I was more thinking the *actual* difference -- that is, what is the
content, and how does it differ from the correct content?

I think I've updated in the last couple of months or so, and the oldest
client I've ever used is 0.30.

I ran md5sum over all the files, and the one it was complaining about is
indeed different, but then lots of the md5s had changed. After removing
the cmdline directory, my update succeeded. Am attaching the list of
md5s in case it's useful to anyone. The "broken" set is what "svn
update" was complaining about, and "working" set is what I got after
moving the cmdline directory out of the way and updating to head.
Cheers,
Mike.

Thanks. It depends on what "a while" means. At one point, a long
time ago, we had some bugs that could cause this. If your working
copy is that old, it might have those bugs. I'm hard put to construct
a concrete scenario off the top of my head, though.
I'd say, save that old working copy, and when you get the new one,
compare the text bases and/or working files, see if you can spot the
difference, and let us know what it was.
