Two Jetspeed on one Tomcat?
For testing and deploying I have to run two Jetspeed instances on one
Tomcat 5.5 Application Server. So I deployed two Jetspeed applications
js_test and js_entw into the webapps-directory of my Tomcat. Once I have
started the Tomcat, I have to send a request to http://localhost/js_test
first to get an response. If I try http://localhost/js_entw i get
"Failed to load portlet
org.apache.jetspeed.portlets.layout.MultiColumnPortlet:
java.lang.ClassCastException:
org.apache.jetspeed.velocity.JetspeedPowerToolFactory". Even if I try to
request http://localhost/js_test afterwards i get this message. I have
to restart the Tomcat and send a request to http://localhost/js_test to
get an response. But even then Jetspeed is telling me 'Failed to find
Servlet context for Portlet Application: /j2-admin'. Both Jetspeeds know
then j2-admin-Portlet because i can saw them in the database-table. If i
delete one Jetspeed-Application everything is doing fine.
So does anybody know how to run separate Jetspeed-Applications on one
Tomcat? And to deploy Portlets just for one Jetspeed: I want to use
Portlet xyz in Jetspeed 1 and 2 but this Portlet could be in different
development stages.
Thanks
Ingo

Simply put: you can't with Tomcat standalone.
Jetspeed needs to communicate across (portlet) web applications and is using the Tomcat shared/lib classloader for that.
So, you can only run one Jetspeed Portal instance at the time in Tomcat.
If you really need to run multiple instances, I suggest deploying it as an ear on Geronimo, JBoss or Websphere. With an
ear deployment, you get a separate shared classloader for each ear so running multiple Jetspeed instances will then be
no problem anymore.

There you go. Not available at that time.

I'm not working from SVN.
I use the version in the installer.

Are you working from the SVN head?
The renderPortletEntity method hasn't been around too long

Calling a portlet from velocity layout
Posted by Audrey MORELLE <au...@yahoo.fr>.
I made a portlet for navigation and I tried to use this line to use it in my layout decorator
$jetspeed.renderPortletEntity("myPortlet","myApp::myPortlet")
But it is not executed.
I tried with different portlet like
$jetspeed.renderPortletEntity("dp-000","j2-admin::LoginPortlet") which already exists.
It seems that $jetspeed is not recognized. Does it need to be initialized ?
Thank you for your answer,
