Want to participate in GSoC

Hi,

I want to address the attention from the administrative people of this
group. Are you participating in GSoC program this year? If so, which part of
the ANT project, you want to enhance? If you could give me a little bit idea
about that, it would be great help for me. I am very interested to work on
this project.

Thanks
Ruby

Hello Gaurav,

Welcome

you can download the sources of ant from subversion [1] to read the
code, read the sources
in your favorite development environment, and read the discussions on
the dev and on the user lists.

As I was suggesting you can look at bugzilla and see whether there are
bug reports on which you can work to evaluate the
patches which are attached, complete them when necessary with unit tests
and documentation, and come back to this list to
discuss the proposed changes.

You can also suggest other sort of contributions if you are not
interested in working on bug reports.

We need also to get in touch with our GSOC admins of Apache to have the
right to make you work on a real GSOC project.

Regards,

Antoine

Sounds good. We have a channel #apache-ant-dev on irc.freenode.net. I am
not always there though.

Hi Antonie,

Thank you very much for your reply. I am very interested to work on this
project. Could you please tell me how can I access the bugzilla? Do you have
IRC channel, so that I can get access to you very easily?

Thanks

Hi,

I am one of the ant committers and I would like to process some of the
bug reports that our users have entered in bugzilla.

Any help to :
- analyze the root cause of the error
- create unit tests reproducing the error mentioned by the bug reporter,
- create documentation about the misdocumented features when relevant,
- designing the solution,
- implementing the solution,

would be great.

Some bug reports contain patches but are not checked in because we did
not find the time to reproduce the error and create a test case.

You could pick one or two bug reports of your choice and work on them.

Regards,
Antoine
