Do you use 'svn log --limit'?
Out of curiosity, how many people here routinely use the '--limit'
switch when running 'svn log'?
Thanks,

Well, I would seem to be in the minority here, but I use 'svn log
--limit 5 -v' and svn log --limit 10 -v' several times a week from my
bash shell.

Yes, I do mean literally, from the command line. Thanks for clarifying
that.

Hyrum,
I assume you mean that question literally, as in who uses it from the
command line? Because I use TortoiseSVN and Subclipse and both of them are
using this by default when showing history and I could not imagine living
without it.

Howdy, Hyrum. I use that all the time. I generally use "svn log --
limit 3" to remind myself what's been going on in a project I'm
developing, or to learn what others have been doing recently.

Pretty much every time I use "svn log" from the command line. Like
others, I can't imagine using svn log without it on any repository where

Not only would having a shortcut command for it be great, I wish there
were an entry in the Subversion config file to specify the default
limit, where --limit 0 could be used to override the default and show
all entries.

I actually prefer it quite a bit to using --limit. (I use the
equivalent of --limit 100 when I'm using TortoiseSVN, because that's
what it does.) It means I don't need to know in advance how many revs
to ask for, I can just scan through the list until I'm satisfied. I
find TortoiseSVN quite irritating in forcing me to click on the "next
100" button whenever I want more.

As do I, but it's mostly because "| less" is a muscle memory thing for
me (I'm so used to typing it, it just happens).

No, I usually use "svn log | less".

I cannot imagine using 'svn log' without limit, unless you're in the
habit of ^C or have almost no history in your repo.

I use it pretty consistently. After updating, if there were changes,
I'll usually svn log -rhead:1 --limit 10. As Ryan said, a default
limit would be *so* nice.
Thanks !

Pretty often. Actually, almost for every "svn log", except when I'm
using -r to show a specific revision only.
