Authentication without HTTP

There is plenty of material on security and Authentication on
servicemix-http.

But what about other methods (e.g. JMS). Are there any best practices for
Authentication and further security (traffic encryption)?

I understand that ActiveMQ supports security features/JAAS, but how would I
integrate this in e.g. a servicemix-jms su?
