testing load with multiple files "how to" ?
Hello,
in my jmeter testing configuration I have
TestPlan
-- Thread Group
Number of Threads: 32
Ramp-up period: 0
Loop Count: 30
---- WebService(SOAP) Request
Protocol: http
Server Name or ip: <tested box ip address>
Port Number: <port number>
Message Folder: <actually pointed to the local directory where
all the test files are (more than 20 files)
Read Soap responses -- checked
--- Aggregation Report Listener
Write All Data to a File: specified the local file with *.jtl
extension
Here is the problem or question. By looking into output jtl file I've
noticed that instead of sending all the testing requests in the Message
Folder, jmeter send only one all the time.
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
<testResults version="1.2">
<sample t="719" lt="0" ts="1144446516587" s="true" lb="WebService(SOAP)
Request" rc="200" rm="" tn="User_Simulation 1-28" dt="text" by="664">
<assertionResult>
<failure>false</failure>
<error>false</error>
</assertionResult>
</sample>
<sample t="1063" lt="0" ts="1144446516243" s="true" lb="WebService(SOAP)
Request" rc="200" rm="" tn="User_Simulation 1-32" dt="text" by="664">
<assertionResult>
<failure>false</failure>
<error>false</error>
</assertionResult>
</sample>
<sample t="688" lt="0" ts="1144446516618" s="true" lb="WebService(SOAP)
Request" rc="200" rm="" tn="User_Simulation 1-12" dt="text" by="664">
<assertionResult>
<failure>false</failure>
<error>false</error>
</assertionResult>
</sample>
Please Notice the byte count "by" is always the same.
Is this a limitation of Jmeter or how can I force jmeter to send all the
files in Message Folder?
thank you,
Oleg

Posted by sebb <se...@gmail.com>.
The Sampler currently selects the files from a directory at random, so
you may well get the same file more than once.
You might be better off using a CSV Data Set containing a list of the
file names; or if they are named suitably, you could use a counter to
generate part of the file name.
