Summary: PHP populated PDF/FDF forms not working in Internet
Explorer
Product: Apache httpd-2
Version: 2.0.63
Platform: Other
OS/Version: Windows Server 2003
Status: NEW
Severity: critical
Priority: P2
Component: Core
AssignedTo: bugs@httpd.apache.org
ReportedBy: repp9418@netzero.net
Environment:
Windows Server 2003 SP2
PHP 5.2.5
httpd 2.0.63
httpd 2.2.8
IIS 6.0
FireFox 2.0.0.11
Internet Explorer 6 and 7
Adobe Reader 8.1.1
I have a PHP webpage which launches a script that populates a PDF file stored
on the server using FDF (not the toolkit). The output of this script is then
sent to the browser using a 'Content-type: application/vnd.fdf' header.
Here is the output from the PHP script:

Using Apache 2.0.63 and 2.2.8 this script launches in Adobe Reader in a
FireFox browser but not in an Internet Explorer browser. IE displays a page
can not be found error. I thought this might be a Microsoft bug, except this
script works in both browsers in IIS 6.0. So now I am thinking it is a bug
with Apache.
Can someone please look into this? I really don't want to tell users if you
are using Apache you have to use FireFox.
Thanks,
Harmony

1. Both of those sets of headers are hopelessly broken, and badly violate HTTP.
2. It's pretty clear it's the application, not either of the webservers, that's
responsible for the brokenness.
3. They're nothing to do with the original problem description.
4. The server you've described as Apache identifies itself as Oracle. We're
not responsible for what Oracle do with it, but they should presumably be
providing support.
5. If you have a problem with Apache, you've already been told what to do.

Since we really have no idea where the problem lies, this would be much better
dealt with on a user-support forum like the users@httpd.apache.org mailing list.
But before posting there, take a look at the exact HTTP response headers output
by Apache versus IIS so you can try to figure out why this is triggering
different behavior. This page might help you with that:
