and "Cannot find bean XXX in any scope"

So <logic:notEmpty> can't handle a missing bean?  I thought that's why 
it's supposed to check for null, according to the docs.

I was trying to use it to get around the fact that <bean:define> doesn't 
appear to create a bean if it's not already there, but I've had to 
resort to scriplet code instead.

Is this correct?
