The followings UDFs date_format and to_date used to support ISO dates with timezone and the support has been broken since Hive 3.x release.

Example:

date_format('2017-03-16T00:10:42Z', 'y')

date_format('2017-03-16T00:10:42+01:00', 'y')

date_format('2017-03-16T00:10:42-01:00', 'y')

to_date('2015-04-11T01:30:45Z')
